E-Com Links With Handsets
Among the pioneers in this field is a startup called Digby.
"We live at the intersection of convenience and impulse," said Dave Sikora, chief executive of Digby, a mobile-commerce service provider operated by privately held 30 Second Software.
Digby has developed a mobile mall for users of BlackBerrys, the smart phones made by Research In Motion. (RIMM) BlackBerry users can download the Digby application, which lets them easily buy goods from such retailers as Barnes & Noble, (BKS) Godiva Chocolate and FTD.com. (FTD) Using Digby, users don’t have to go out onto the Web to do the e-shopping, which Sikora says remains too slow and insecure.
